Paekakariki School takes on the sun

Paekakariki School is joining a growing number of Kapiti Schools by becoming a SunSmart School this week.

The school received their award, signs and a donated apple tree after demonstrating that their policies and practices meet internationally recognised criteria in protecting both staff and students from the sun. Principal John Masson says “Paekakariki School had many SunSmart practices happening already but we just needed to tweak a few things to cross the line. This includes a new focus on wearing broad-brimmed hats in Terms 1 and 4, rather than caps".
